On Pain

You are surrounded with friends and loved ones.
Use them and cherish them.
You have experienced tests before learning the lesson.
Remember them.
You have been hurt countless times by those people whom you love.
Forgive but never forget them.
You have felt pain that no one else will be able to comprehend.
It is your own pain to burden. Feel it, understand it, and grow old with it.
But never succumb to it.
Pain is but a stimulus of the nerve to the brain.
The stimulus may be long gone but the pain may reside.
For a year, a decade, a century, or a lifetime hence
That the pain may beckon you to its side
Follow it, but always leave a trail
To let yourself and other people know
That you will always come back
